I’m waiting for my project to start, but I’m not complaining because this is the PERFECT time to take it slow! #HAGS I would’ve spent more time in Austin but had to go back to the office for summer intern management duties <3 so besides spending time on the kids, here’s what I’ve been up to:
FUN:
Started my time off pretty HIGH on this rooftop — played pool with a view!
Finally got a chance to go to the MET’s Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion exhibition. Soph happened to be in town for the MBA draft so she joined and I loved nothing more <3
I’ve been spending so much more time with Talia now that she’s in her summer break from architecture school and I’M SO HAPPY ABOUT IT. We plan the best nights out and I will never want a bf bc they will never live up to what we have down. Anyway, we started this night at Ye’s Apothecary for bites and drinks and then headed to the Public Hotel roof. The dj was inside (?) so the music scene was poor but the views outside are definitely unbeatable. Met a fun couple and ended up club-hopping with them for a little lol #bratsummer
The interior of the Public Hotel is a work of art <3
NBA DRAFT NIGHT! We love the Pacers <3
FITNESS:
The closest Bodyrok is a 30 min walk from my apt so I thought it would be a good idea to walk over as a warm-up — horrible idea bc it was HOT and I was drenched in sweat by the time I got there. Of course I had to commit, so I walked home afterward. Carrot juice revives!
Work took us out to golf on Long Island by the water — one of the most beautiful (and difficult) courses I think I’ve ever played! Ordered Wolfnights on the train ride back and I timed it perfectly to scarf it down as soon as I walked in <3 You know how hard sleep hits after a perfect day like this.
FOOD:
So much more time to eat at places on my list! Swati and I got our coffee in wine glasses at Sogno Toscano (and the focaccia sandwiches are so good)! Kaelyn had a reservation at Raoul’s and I love her for it — the steak frites are to die for. We will go back early next time for two of the twelve burgers they make each night (so crazy right).
Sam was in town so we had a little Singapore reunion at La Cabra <3 The cardamom buns are DELICIOUS and I actually like them more than the ones at Smor Bakery (hot take apparently). Embarrassing story is that I went to the wrong location (even though I was sent the address) and had to walk across town to the other one. It was so fun to catch up and I felt so at home.
Talia and I walked around LES/Orchard St. and stumbled across Kiki’s. It is now a FAV and I tell everyone about it. Such good (and well-priced) Greek food in a Mediterranean tavern setting. Apparently they also have really good wine, so we will be back <3
Summer IS little outdoor table season. Bar Pisellino has my favorite iced americanos — we sat inside bc it was sooo hot and humid. But at night, we sit outside for sureeee
Dinner with the work girlies at MONO+MONO — I love when we have enough people to order the whole menu and try everything. Such good Korean bites! Bought a pint of Van Leeuwen’s (would not go here if not for the vegan) for dessert bc it tastes better straight out of it (???) and I was close enough to home to freeze the remaining — future self is grateful.
FEELINGS:
Dinner with the content creator I assist and her friends! They gave me a gift for planning their Copenhagen trip which was so nice and I felt so appreciated <3 I’m actually such a fan of pitching to brands and trip planning so this was really just the cherry on top. Thanks!
Work-life balance at its finest! But I am getting antsy and need to start my project asap. Not until after the week of the 4th though, pretty please (I know I’m posting this late sorry)!
From Mine to Yours,
